The premiere date, September 12, holds deeply personal significance: September 12th is Ryan Hendrickson's "Alive Day" — the anniversary of the day he survived stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Afghanistan, a date that marks both the moment he nearly lost his life and the beginning of the mission that would come to define it.

Safe Ground follows Ryan Hendrickson, a retired U.S. Army Green Beret, Purple Heart recipient, author, and humanitarian whose experience with explosive devices nearly cost him his life.

In 2010, while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan, Ryan stepped on an IED while attempting to rescue an Afghan soldier. After a remarkable recovery and return to active duty, he eventually carried his experience into a new mission.

Through Tip of the Spear Landmine Removal, Ryan and his team work to remove these deadly remnants of war, restore land to safe use, and protect the farmers, families, and children who live with the fear that any step could be their last.
